Is there as simple way to do this? I really want to use a certain mod but it won't work with the GOG version.

I don't think there ever was a 1.09A patch, it's either plain 1.09 or 1.09b.

Anyway, I guess the easiest way would be to install v1.00 from the .iso file which you can get on archive.org, then install patch 1.09 (still available here : http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/diablo/patches/pc/drtl109.exe )

Then, unless you use some third party loader such as Ulmo's DiabloStash, you'll need to keep the .iso mounted in a virtual drive whenever you want to play it.

Yes, by 'a' I do mean 1.09. Is there no way to make the GOG version 1.09?

I suppose there could be, by just replacing the files with those taken from 1.09, but then again, you'll still need the .iso to play (unless you use something else to handle that).

Thanks, but this patcher won't work without the autorun.exe file that isn't included in the GOG install, it seems.

Shucks, didn't think of that... going to need to find a Diablo 1 CD or ISO file. At least as far as i know. Sorry.

Thank you for your reply. The mod I want to use is DiabloPatch Mod https://diablopat.ch/index.php. The link you offered in the other thread does provide only item highlighting with no other changes -- which is half of what I'm looking for. The other half is to have a simple difficulty selection menu for single player instead of having to create a MP game first. Of course, I also don't want any other changes besides those two.

Will look at adding difficulty selection in the not to distant future.
