The Game is reading the buttons but does not respond on the x and y axis. Is my sensitivity an issue?

Have you got any other things controllers plugged in like a gamepad or a joystick? If so I would unplug them and try launching the game again. Also make sure you check the descent options and it set to keyboard and mouse and not something else.
