I was wondering if there were any mods or other techniques to lower the hover-jiggle (the ship bobbing up and down) from the hurricane-force boatrocking in D2 to the more moderate lake-cruising level of D1? Halfway through D1 I popped over to D2 and had to stop playing before I got partway through the first level, it was pretty bad.

I believe you can turn off the bobbing off completely in the games options. Not sure of any mods that would tone it down to D1's level but at least with it off you should be able to at least play the game for more then 10 minutes.
I've checked the in game settings but nothing is obvious. Being able to turn the bobbing off completely would help though.
As an aside, I've discovered that differences in resolution will make the bobbing appear to be more than it is. Lower resolutions apparently give the illusion that the bobbing is very intense. The highest resolution eliminates the illusion.
I know for a FACT that the D2X-XL source port allows this (in addition to many, many other things). I haven't used it though, I chose DXX Rebirth because I'm too lazy to set up D2X-XL and the mostly classic experience is good enough for me.
I'm actually thinking about getting back into Descent again and trying D2X-XL because it looks so cool. It's more analogous to the Freespace Open project than a simple source port like Rebirth (except it's no where near as well organized or staffed. The FSO guys have plenty of people working together on multiple projects and they have clarity and documentation down to a science).
