How can I redirect Descent 1/2 MIDI music into external synth connected via MIDI port? I'm running these games on WinXP with SB Audigy.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of setup you have, but since DosBox is only emulating a midi card and then sending that to the OS, it might work if you just set your default midi device to output to your synthesizer. You might be able to do that if you look at the default device for MIDI music playback under the Audio tab of "Sound and Audio Devices" in the control panel.

I'm not sure about Descent, but if you picked "general midi" in x-com's setup, that worked. So, if you have such an option in setup (I really don't remember and I haven't bought Descent yet, but it should be there), give it a try ;)

Thanks for your answers. Descent 1 sends its MIDI music to my external synth now. Unfortunately, I failed to run setup utility for Descent 2,.

Just reminding myself - still unable to route Descent II MIDI music through my external synth - Descent 1 works fine
