howdy,
so i've set the mouse sensitivity to 20... next tick down is 0 and you get a dead mouse.... any way in-game to turn the mouse sensitivity down below that? also, the mouse seems super "stuttery"... is there a way to "mouse smooth" or something?
thanks.

A slight bump to the question here, as I'm having the same issue. I've tried messing around with settings, no luck.
Works fine when your ship is zipping along the maps, but jerks if you want to make small movements. On keyboard, it's all good, but I've been playing in +mlook mode for too many years to do anything decent.
After testing various things since last post. Each one of these helps, and together works best.
1) Install game to primary HDD (C:) rather portable HDD (J:)
(I normally use J to save on space, works with just about everything older than 3 years until now)
2) Turn off all active USB devices, in my case, J: and the n-in-1 card reader
3) Turn off AVG (Resident Shield)
Now, it is much more smooth and there are no 'pauses/skipping' during battle.

Try either of these command-line options.
-mlooksens <scale> Determines how much the player moves when the mouse
is moved. The default value is 9.1; smaller values
give more precision.
-mousesens <scale> Adjusts the sensitivity of the mouse when not
using mouselook mode. A value greater than 1.0
makes the mouse more sensitive; less than 1.0
makes it less sensitive.
I found them in here:
http://www.descent3.com/patch/Readme_14.txt
edit:
I forgot to say, the sensitivity was too high for me and I used -mlooksens 4 and it worked great!
To get to the command line options, click the descent 3 icon, then click "setup" and under the "Misc." tab. Enter "-mlooksens 4" (4 or whatever sensitivity setting you want) in the "Optional D3 Command-line Switches" textbox.

Yes, appreciated! Saves me a few steps before each game.
I was looking around for an ini file or equiv'. Didn't think about in-game or run parameters.
2 years later, i must thank you also :)

even so, the mouse code kind of sucks :-/

EDIT: man, I sure wish the source code would be released. So many issues would be fixed in no time.

Descent was never meant to be played with a mouse and if you play multi, you'll have a hard time finding a server that allows mouselook.
well of course. It would still be nice for single player, though.
