When I run Delta Force (GOG), it first shows the Delta Force logo on a brown background (a static picture), and then jumps to soldier selection screen. I have the retail version of Delta Force too, but I don't quite remember: didn't this game have an intro then? Is it missing from the GOG version, or am I possibly missing some video codec that the game intro needs?

I am on Windows 7/64bit. This is not a real biggie, but of course I wish the games to be as close to the originals as possible (ie. no missing music, videos or such).

I definitely remember seeing that somewhere years ago, so yes, seems like the intro is missing then. Or at least, I don't see it either when I start up the game :\ I doubt it's a codec issue because I can see DF2's intro upon launch.

I was thinking it might be some missing codec because with some games, e.g. Wheel of Time, if you didn't have the right ones (certain Quicktime version), then the game would just skip all the video parts, like the intro or the FMV between levels. You wouldn't necessarily even notice they were missing (no error message or anything), other than that you wouldn't understand much of the game's story because it was told in those videos.

So I am just thinking is it intentional that Delta Force is missing the intro video, or an error? I think I have the game also on Steam (as well as the retail CD), maybe I'll check them... No biggie I guess if it is only that short intro video, but as said, it would be nice to have the whole authentic package.

Considering that DF2's intro uses Bink Video, the reason for the omission of DF1's intro is most likely intentional and is probably because of conflicts between the old Bink player and newer operating systems. Running old Bink video files can be really wonky on anything Vista and newer.

Do you know if that is the only video in the game, at least one that is missing? Is there possibly some video when you have finished the game or anything?

That is indeed the fix I made. And that's the only FMV in the entire game afaik.

Yep. I can confirm QuoteDaBot's suggestion works. :) I renamed the old INTRO.KDV file in the Delta Force installation directory to INTRO.OLD (just in case), and copied this new, bigger, INTRO.KDV to the same place. Now the intro plays in the GOG version.

The default Delta Force installation directory is C:\GOG Games\Delta Force\

It seems kind of sad that you figured out how to fix the intro but GOG couldn't be bothered to fix it. I just finished Delta Force 1 and I may play Delta Force 2 now. Is the intro missing in that game too?

You would think that if they were going to have only one video in the game they would put one at the end. Finishing the last mission, and the game, without seeing some sort of concluding video seems like an odd way to end a game.

I thought it was strange that GOG wouldn't have fixed it. Thanks for the info. I didn't realize the problem because I just finished the game, and changed the intro after I was already done.
