It's a false flag and it's annoying as hell.
Here's me reporting previous versions and them white-flagging it: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/278315-false-positive-in-demo-of-game-death-trash-on-steam/

Was this the demo or the full version? And was it the lastest version or some specific version?

Do you have "Use expert system algorithms to identify malicious files” turned on in the settings?
Hi, GOG Support here!

As Stephan said, for some reason this issue happens only when "Use expert system algorithms to identify malicious files" is enabled in Malwarebytes(Settings -> Security).

I installed the latest version of the game(0.7.26) via GOG GALAXY and scanned GameAssembly.dll as well as the entire game installation folder using Malwarebytes 4.4.8.
I've reported the current version over there so they can whiteflag it: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/278315-false-positive-in-demo-of-game-death-trash-on-steam/

I really hope they can permanently fix this.
I hope that this issue will be resolved soon :).
Version 0.7.26 is whiteflagged now.

I assume the upcoming versions will trigger their heuristic algorithm again, but we got a few hints now on what to investigate to find a permanent fix.
Update from Malwarebytes:
"There is a fix in the works for the heuristic detections. I dont have an eta at this time but should be within a month at most. Its in testing at the moment."

Fingers crossed that this fixes our situation.

For anyone reading this topic, just to mention this again: There is nothing problematic with the Death Trash software. This issue is about the Malwarebytes application wrongly detecting it as problematic, as implicitly confirmed by the Malwarebytes staff in the forum thread I linked.

Whenever you get something like that in a game like this that is almost going to be for sure a false positive. Do this first before anything else. Upload the file in question to virustotal.com and see how many others flag it, this will give you a good indication as to the nature of it being a false positive.
