They just don't work and I can only just press Esc to skip them. I've tried using the DP Fix as well as reinstalling the KLite Codec Pack. There is probably other things I tried, but I tried doing anything I found on the internet and to no avail.

See if you can play the cutscenes independently from Deadly Premonition\updata\movie folder. If you can't - it's probably some codecs issue.

Same here, The Movies run fine from the folder yet I cant seem to get them to work ingame, Ive tryed reinstalling codecs and everything yet nothing :/

You can try to contact the support - maybe they have some tricks to fix this issue.

I'm having a similar issue at the end of the hospital section towards the beginning of the game. I went into the movies folder to check if it was a codec problem, as was suggested to do in the thread, and I found that quite a few of the files are missing, including the one that should be playing, but instead freezes up my game.

SCND03, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 26-31, 33, 36, 37 are all missing, but the PRM files corresponding are all available, save for 36.

Do I just do a clean install? The hell is going on.

I know this is considered a necro, but I was able to fix this. I have the game on steam. I set both the DP launcher and the game to run as admin, and set compatibility to Windows XP Service Pack 3.

This also fixed a large number of other bugs i was having, such as cars brainlessly driving in circles then falling through the world or getting stuck in trees, inventory issues where the game would get stuck on one item and wouldn't let me select another item, and a bug where i got stuck in the map screen.

The framerate is much better now, as well.

Compatibility mode does help a lot in my experience.
