Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows what port Darkstone uses to broadcast its games on? I am interested in hosting a game for me and my friends, but am behind a router. I've searched the interwebs and the only guide that i have come across does not mention a port. It assumes that the game will simply work if one has the right IP address. Then again, that was the assumption years ago.

In short, what is the port that the game uses? If I can, I want to avoid DMZ hosting.

Sadly it's not that easy it would seem. I hosted 10 TCP Games and checked the ports to get a number or a range to work with, but the game seems to have no specific port or range, it looks like it uses whatever port it gets assigned to.

Here are the numbers I got out of it:
548
1892
3256
3312
3328
3336
3344
3776
3856
4012

All ports are listed as TCP and UDP. Since no number came up twice und the potential range is rather large I have to assume it is unlikely that the game uses a specific port. Be aware though, that I am no expert, perhaps someone else has more insight.

The only solution that I can think of right now is to host a game, then check for the port while it is running and forward this port. Rinse and repeat everytime you start a game. I will try that next and report back.

EDIT: Okay, this does not work either. I am at a loss. Sorry.

It seems like the best solution is make the host computer a DMZ host before hosting. Yes, its a pain, but its necessary.
