i still cannot get into the gab'har cluster. i have actually gone all the way thru to the vicious second flak mission (currently level 16 an yes it's a b$%^*, but doable) and i am going back to get artifiacts.
tried numerous combinations of entry points, side missions, pirate gang killings, etc, etc, etc
this cluster is a juicy one, please help me!

That cluster does not open up until later in the game, the storyline will take you there. From what I remember, you are guided into the Arrack Cluster first, then you go back to that Octo Cluster.
Edit: In fact I loaded up an old save to show you how my game was progressing, roughly at the stage you are. As you can see that Sector is still full of question marks.
Just keep going buddy! Don't worry, you can get in there in the end.

thanks alot romulus!!!
for the answer and especially for the speed. i knew that there were places where certain planets didn't open, but three clusters back just seemed like some sort of error.
