I recently purchased and downloaded Darkest Dungeon via the classic installer. Upon running darkest.exe there is a black screen for a couple moments, and then it closes. Mysteriously, the darkest.exe file is nowhere to be found after all of this (but the rest of the game files seem intact).

I am using a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit machine.

Try to rename exe file.

Thank you! It didn't even occur to me that it was my AV because this never happened before... turns out it is a "new feature" >_>. Anyway I got it working now after messing with the settings.

No problem, I'm glad I could help - AV is one of the common causes of such "mysteries".
Also darkest.exe looks like the name of some malware and that fact could provoke AV to act without hesitation.
