I looked around with google for a bit, but couldn't find anything. Does anybody know if this works? I'm thinking of getting the game again for my new PC.

DD uses a custom binary variant of JSON, which should be the same irrespective of platform. So in theory there should be no problems.

If you're really anxious about this I'd suggest contacting the devs - they'd be able to give you a definitive answer.
