Hi all,

Short: Clicking on the activity log scroll or finishing a mission causes game to crash. I am looking for a resolution.

I recently played darkest dungeon for the first time on the free weekend on steam.
I decided to purchase the game on GOG and copied my profile over to the GOG files (I mention this because I wonder if it's relevant to my issue?).
All working well until after my first mission the game crashed.
and after the second/third etc. all crashes.
(no warning or prompt just the program shuts completely and sends me to my desktop.)
I discovered in the Hamlet that if I click the activity log the exact same things happens.
A google search hasn't proven helpful / I havn't found relevant answers.

So far I have tried restarting my pc and reinstalling Darkest Dungeon.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, hope you are all having a good day.

I know that Darkest Dungeon was recently updated on Steam to prepare it for Butchers circus. That update did not come to GOG.com. I would bet that is what is causing the crashes.

That's interesting - i think you are right as I've just started up a second save and can access the activity log just fine. hmm, i'm not entirely sure where to go forward with this but I guess i'll compare the two save files and see if there is anything I can remove in my local files.


Edit: I will add, after having a look about in the files I've found nothing at surface level that I could think to do (I'm completely without knowledge in this area so it would have had to have been glaringly obvious for me to find a solution) - I did notice that even if I deleted files GOG just replaces them with backed up files immediately on launch which was frustrating.
