Hi all!
I'm not sure if this has been asked here before or not. Please do forgive me if this has been asked and answered a zillion times and just kindly link me to the current working solution.
So, I've just downloaded Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG Galaxy today, with the latest patch and all. I decided not to have a go at it on launch day after hearing about the terrible performance everywhere, and I also didn't really have any time to spare to play. But, I figured that maybe after a few days and a few patches, the game would at least be somewhat playable.
Anyway, I have got the latest available driver for the 6900XT, version 20.12.1 according to Radeon Software, and I have got the latest chipset driver as well for my X570 motherboard, version 2.10.13.408 according to AMD's website.
I only have a 1080p monitor at the moment, but an upgrade to 1440p/4K is imminent, but I'm still undecided yet between 1440p and 4K. I tested different resolutions, however, between 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p, using the virtual super resolution feature and I can set FidelityFX dynamic rendering to off, making the GPU technically rendering the full virtual resolution of my choice.
Across all resolutions, I only see cinematic 25-35 fps at max graphical settings, as chosen by Cyberpunk for my hardware. There are no RT features enabled yet for AMD cards, so, this is with RT off. This already is an unusual behavior as the performance basically doesn't scale with the resolution at all.
I also notice that at 1080p, my GPU is cool as a cucumber at 50C with usage of at most 25%. At 1440p, it goes up a bit higher at 35% peak, and at 4K it goes even higher at 55% peak. But it never pins the GPU at 100% and the core clock is just everywhere.
I tried the HEX editor method for the EXE and that seems to spread the load on the CPU more evenly across the threads, but overall CPU usage only peak at about 25% regardless and I see no change in performance.
Does anybody have any idea what to do in this case or how to fix it? Aside from waiting for the CDPR to fix it or AMD to release new drivers of course...
