Any way to shut this crap off? I'm driving and trying to look at something and the next moment it's snapping back toward the front of the car, where I can't see anything because the default view is a dashboard. If all cars drive like the starter one, I can tell I'm going to be walking alot, so maybe this won't be such a big deal.

Insert obligatory rant about cube monkeys that have never seen daylight thinking they are smarter than everyone else and trying to handhold/ force their way of doing things on everyone else who isn't as smart as them.

Once you get to the faster cars, you want third person view.
If you got CET installed, I can give you the code for the fastest car or a more...playful car, if you want to do some testing.

The default camera positioning is better now, compared to 1.6 (where it just gave you a faceful of dashboard by default), but the camera angle reset is still there, on all vehicles and bikes. Part of me wants to get a developer, put him in a car, and tell him to drift it between cones while randomly moving his head side to side and see how he does.

The auto-snap on the camera completely messes up the depth perception, and this is really annoying once you get to the racing quests where you need to make those corners just right. After a while though, you learn the timing of it, so you move the mouse to get the camera angle where you need it, knowing it won't reset until after the corner.

But until I got to that point, I used this mod:
https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/2169?tab=description

I haven't used it since 1.6, so I don't know whether it still works properly.

I really don't understand why this "feature" is even in the game. My driving instructor drilled into me "look where you drive, because you drive where you look" when I took my license almost 20 years ago.

I tried sliding my car on an empty parking lot last winter, and when I tried the "Cyberpunk 2077 school of driving", with a random view angle by moving my head around, I lost control in about 3 seconds and had to do an emergency stop. Just like I do in the game, when the camera angle suddenly snaps back.
And then the NCPD gets angry with me for mowing down a bunch of pedestrians as a result, as if it was somehow my fault I suddenly lost control of the car. Damn it, CDPR, stop taking notes from Tesla! I don't want anything to be automated when I drive!

Video game logic at its finest.

The state of all tech today is to assume the user is an idiot about the level of caveman, force whatever is easier for the company down their throat, then blame the user for any push back and claim they are just making the product easier to use. Been down this road too many times and it just gets more infuriating every time.

It's just easier and faster if they just keep things the way they always were and let me do it instead of making me work around and fix all their improvements.

It's a topic I'm very bitter about.
