Upon importing a save of the original Corpse Party, Chapter 8 "BloodDrive" unlocked immediately.
From what I heard, the save import should only lower the requirements and not unlock it outright.
Is this an intentional change that was made to this version of Book of Shadows ?

Nope, it was exactly like that in the psp version too. Unlock exclusive CGs and the Blood Drive chapter, right away.

EDIT: Memory is a bit hazy but i think it required a 100% completion Corpse Party save on psp.

I wasn't able to get the game to read my Corpse Party saves at all! Do you have to do something special to get it to read them?

I had this issue too.
Just copy your Corpse Party saves in the save folder of Book of Shadows. When launching book of Shadows it will display a text to confirm that it has found the data.
