I have some sound issues in Riddick. While my surroundsystem works fine in other games, it is very hard to hear from where the sounds are coming in riddick. It is a bit hard to tell because I could not find a clearly located noise source, but it sounds like the sound I only upmixed from stereo and not true surround sound.
The only option available in the Audio menu is "Music Volume" and that is not helping. I also tried if I could find any configuration files with some advanced options, but I did not. I'm reading everywhere about the great sound effects in Riddick, but to me everything sound somehow wrong. It is really hard to describe, but I just don't get the "I'm right in that game feeling", which I had in other games like Stalker.
Is there any way to fix this, or at least some advanced sound options?
Since this issue has a topic already I don't thought open a new one. My issue is I don't have 5.1 sound at no way! Only Stereo mix. I use an ASUS Xonar DSX card which is 7.1 channels, also has an GX function which emulates and make surround sound for old EAX/DS compatible games. Works fine with System Shock 2, Jedi Academy, AVP Classic, BioShock. However even that not helps for Riddick. Only gave me all the same sounds even dialogs from all speakers. :S
There's a very easy and simple solution for surround sound. I set my sound card sound mixing options from 6 channels to 8 channels. In Windows control panel (Win7) this setting set the speaker settings to 7.1. Anyway, there will be no issue. Sounds plays fine, my sound card panel setting is 5.1 anyway.
