is there a way i can install the original version of butcher bay without the updated graphics, or is only the escape from dark athena version vailable?

On GOG? No, it was released here as the Dark Athena version. I don't think the original PC Director's Cut version got a digital (download) release. So the only way to get it is if you can find the boxed disc version or pirate it.

Even if you would find the original release of Escape from Butcher Bay, it probably wouldn't work on your PC if you have Vista, 7, 8/8.1 or 10. I tried with my disc and the game crashed. It worked on my XP PC though.

Bringing up the console with CTRL+ALT+` and typing xr_lod 0 gets rid of some of the dumb filtering that the Dark Athena rerelease added and makes it look a little more like the original release, in terms of colour grading and such.
