Whenever I launch the game after installation I am getting a "module init error" from Solidshield. Is anyone else getting this? Better yet has anyone found a fix for this?

Thanks.

Same here, Windows XP. Tried changing compatabilty etc, no joy so far.
Reloaded on another machine, high end graphics card, XP Pro, diffrent Virus scanner and firewall.
Now runs , no problem. :)
I'm having the same issue, using Windows 7 64bit. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I've created exceptions in my AV for the installer, the installation folder, and the dvm.dll file (I got the notification from my AV the first install, but haven't had the problem since and, yes, the .dll file is still in the folder). Attempted running in compatibility mode. Installed the TAGES drivers on a long-shot. Still getting this error.
Exactly the same problem here, hope a solution is found soon...
Okay, so I finally got the game to install and boot up correctly by disabling MSE during installation. After the game is installed MSE can be turned back on and the game seems to run just fine.

Attempted to replicate this process with Norton, but no joy...
Has anyone found a solution to this yet? I am having the same problem as the OP. I'm using windows 7 64bit. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I keep getting the 'module init error' over and over.

I normally have no problems with games here and love gog.com but so far I've installed this game over 9 times and can't get it to boot up. I normally don't bother posting on the forum, am normally too busy playing games, but I am at a loss on how to get this game started and was really looking forward to it.

Stuff I've tried to troubleshoot the error :

I made an exception in my anti-virus, that part thankfully hasn't caused me much problems except for the annoyance of it all and the fact I've yet to see an official statement from Gog about they are fixing it or aware of it.

I have tried installing it in different locations. Such as not in the default location. I have tried running it in xp compatibility mode and Admin and still get the 'module init error'.
I have installed it on a 2nd pc with no virus checker but that pc has windows 7 64bit as well. I get the same problem there so cant troubleshoot if it's an error caused by win7 64bit only.

If anyone else has any other ideas or know what module init error means or how to get around it on windows 7 64 bit, that would be a great help, as currently this game has been nothing but a headache. I don't really want to ask for a refund if there is away to get it running. Thankfully the Alan wake games on sale have kept me busy from worrying too much over this.

thanks a lot in advance.

The 'module init error' is being caused by old files left over from the TAGES DRM. Apparently, GOG couldn't completely remove the DRM files, so they opted to deactivate them. Though, for some reason that's not actually happening in some cases. Anyway, this is what I did, step-by-step, that finally got it working: 1) created a folder to install the game to. 2) Created an exception in my AV software to that folder (I also made exceptions for the install .exe and the dvm.dll) 3) Deactivated my AV. 4) Installed the game, making sure to select my custom folder. 5) Booted up the game to ensure it was working correctly (it was). 6) Booted it up with my AV active to make sure it would still work (it did). For reference, I run Windows 7 64-bit.
