I got this error (see attached image) when I tried installing the game multiple times. The little German part says:"Couldn't find the file". The installer files were checked for integrity.
Is there any way to fix this without downloading the 7GB all over again?

Try deleting "E:\GOG.com\The Chronicles of Riddick - Assault on Dark Athewna" then reinstalling.

I got same error except it did not appear until I tried to launch. Then it told me that "The program can't start because dvm.dll is missing." It said to reinstall, which I did. Same thing occurred. I googled Chronices and dvm.dll. It seems that dvm.dll is part of the copy protection.

Is this game not DRM-free yet? It kinda seems that way....

+1. I have the same dvm.dll missing error. I presume an update and download will be in the offering soon - though re-downloading a 7GB game might hit some people hard!

Same error, rather disappointing. Although from what I hear, the DRM used to be horrible, so it is probably just the aftershock of that.

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/chronicles_of_riddick_the/tages_drm from posts in here it seems this dll was part of TAGES DRM and most AVs detect as false positive and delete it. So probably you will need to reinstall with your AV automatic removal disabled.

If you disable your av prog, most of them will simply remove the file once they are reactivated and/or you try to launch the game. You could create an exception, but I don't like creating exceptions.

Hopefully GOG can straighten this out. But another person posted here that GOG is using a cracked dvm.dll file, hence the red flags. If this is so, I definitely won't create an exception for it.....

Believe me. I have had quite a few games that use SecuROM, and had no problem with them. But I got one game that used TAGES DRM (I believe it was Crysis: Maximum Edition), and that DRM was a big barrier to getting me to run it. It took me a couple of hours to try to find a way to activate it. I mean, I hear all the complaints about how SecuROM is bad, but IMO, TAGES is much worse.

Disabling the AV and whitelisting the dll worked for me.

I'm getting the same error except mine says 'code 5. Access is denied' right at the end of installation instead of 'code 2. Couldn't find the file' . The installer doesn't leave any game files or folders on my computer when this error comes up at the end.

I am using windows xp service pack 3. I am logged in as the administrator and I have already turned off the real-time scanning and the firewall in mcafee AV. The installer files were also checked for integrity.

Has anyone else had the installer say 'code 5. Access is denied'?

A really strange case indeed. Of course, trying to import a dvm.dll online couldn't help because it would ask about TAGES. But as soon as I turned off the MSE antivirus and left an exception for the destination folder before turning back on, it is working just fine. Even so, I hope the issue gets addressed soon.

I've fixed my 'code 5. Access is denied' problem by turning off real time scanning in Ad-Aware antivirus that I am also using along with mcafee.

The game now installs successfully and leaves all game files and folders on my computer.

But both my antivirus programs detect the file dvm.dll as a trojan, so now I have to find a way to make them trust this file so I can play the game.

I Hope this information helps someone.

I'd not recommend using Ad-Aware any more.
