Is there any possibility that you guys will be adding the original game to the site for collection purposes?

Or even for those of us with terrible computers?

Can't you just lower the graphics settings if the game isn't running smooth?
I would appreciate it too, I kinda like it's graphics, there are developers commentary in the game and better saving system. It feels like a true PC game. This remake is great but it would be great to have a possibility to play the original in it's original form.

Even if it will be like a separate release I would buy it (let's say for 5.99$).

It doesn't run at all because my CPU is 10 years old and lacks SSE2 support.

Unfortunately even with everything set to lowest settings possible, the game runs in like 2fps in a computer that could run the original game at full framerate even before a CPU and GPU upgrade.

Ah, I see. Well then I suppose all there is to do is wait and hope or get a new computer. I would suggest the later as even the cheapest computer you can get today, well almost, will be leaps and bounds faster than your current machine in everything you do with it.
I'm hoping they manage to include the original Escape from Butcher Bay as a bonus one of these days. Hell, they did it for Broken Sword, right? The remake is really nice and all (it's arguably the main reason to buy Dark Athena), but it's just not the same. Especially if you're wanting to play on a low-end computer.

Sorry, jema, but killing the settings doesn't magically turn it into the Xbox/PC original. It just makes it really, really ugly, choppy, and low-res. :P

Suggesting people to upgrade isn't a proper response, either. 480+ people voted for Escape from Butcher Bay on the wishlist, compared to 80+ for Dark Athena. The former is now marked as completed. I wouldn't be surprised if dozens of them felt annoyed by that fact. It'd be even more annoying if Escape from Butcher Bay was sold stand-alone. Hopefully it isn't too much to ask.

I am afraid there is little to no chance of getting the original release of Butcher Bay. This is because it was ditributed by another company. "Sierra which later became Vivandi Uniersal" Which GOG have not signed up. So we will not get the original release.
Vivendi Universal held the rights back in 2004, yes, but are you certain Atari hasn't acquired the rights since then? I would think there would be some complications in remaking Butcher Bay in Dark Athena if VU was still holding the rights as of 2009. Then again, contracts tend to be odd like that.

Stating "We will not get the original release" as an irrefutable fact isn't going to accomplish anything. How are you so absolutely sure? Just a while ago, EA seemed like a pipe dream, and Steamworks titles turned DRM-free was nothing more than wishful thinking. I really hope you eat your words, and soon, for all our sakes.

woh buddy it was just my opinion dont have to get all hostile.... everyone is welcome to an opinion
I really want to see the original game on GOG, and is there anything we can do to get the game here?
The original Escape from Butcher Bay and it's Developer's Cut are significantly better than what was included with Dark Athena for a number of reasons. Namely the AI wasn't cheap, the game looked better due to HDR not getting abused, better save system, the Developer's Cut had commentary, there wasn't any sections of the game nerfed (if you played the original and then played the Dark Athena-included remake, you would have ran across a rather frustrating change in the sewers), you had to be careful about reloading weapons because you would lose the remaining ammo in the magazines you swap out, and you didn't have Dark Athena's unsuited soundtrack bleeding into the game. It should also be noted that the original version for XBox lacked a section that I thought lessened the impact of something you do at the end of the game, ideally that section would have been made an unlockable bonus when they first brought it to PC rather than being a part of the main game itself, but it was still fun so I'm not complaining.
