Hey guys,

We don't have the manpower or resources to take the PowerPC* Mac version of Chaos Overlords and make it compatible with today's Macs. As of right now, the Windows version doesn't work on Macs via Wine and, thus, we cannot offer a Mac-compatible wrapped version of Chaos Overlords. Sorry :(

*because that would require digging through code that isn't our own and try to update it to modern Mac architectures. I don't know about you guys but to me that sounds like a very, very massive undertaking.

Azilut: Thanks for the reply, Judas - that's pretty much what I imagined the situation was.

Any word on whether the music issue is still being looked at?
Sorry, nothing to report but if we do end up being able to fix it, there will be an update :)

chean: Do you have any specific details on the issues that keep it from working with Wine? Using a basic Wineskin wrapper I've gotten it MOSTLY playable on OS X, with the notable exception of some icons being replaced with white blocks (presumably the same as was mentioned earlier in the thread as a Windows 8 issue) and music not playing. With more details and a little time, it should be possible to go from there to getting it working fully, especially given that Wine is under constant development.
Let's see:

The aforementioned white blocks.

The interface would get all messed up when trying to access the right hand menu when you tried to access the different parts of the game.

The music not playing at all under Mac.

Basically, it's not something that we feel that we can put out on Macs without generating quite a few support tickets and now refunds.

edit: We're always open to feedback but keep in mind we can't devote tons of time to one game or one issue, as much as we'd like to due to the sheer number of games we have on hand and upcoming games as well.

chean: No worries, and I'm certainly not asking GOG to drop everything to get a Mac version released! :) Rather, I was thinking that if the cause is e.g. specific libraries not yet being Wine-compatible, I or some other community member might be able to find an "unofficial" (i.e. not supported by GOG) solution.
I didn't hear of any specific libraries just what you saw in my earlier post :)
