So there I was, super excited to get back into one of my all-time top childhood games, getting back into the storylines and building kick-ass castles. But there' s a horrible problem! The Quicksilver/Interplay splash page at the start overlays and flashes green, and sometimes crashes my computer (netbook, LG X120). That's quite annoying, but I got past that, only to be greeted with a hideous pink screen - the scroll, where you pick your campaign etc.

So I've been looking around for a solution - do you guys have any, because fiddling around with the graphics mode is making very little difference. Please help an ex-Castles addict relight the flame.... :)

Thanks!

I can tell you what worked for me. What I did is:

1) Follow the instructions here:
http://www.gog.com/en/support/castles_castles_2/_i_b_read_first_b_common_troubleshooting_steps_i_

(I actually had DEP and 3D activated)

and here:
http://www.gog.com/en/support/castles_castles_2/common_solutions_for_problems_in_dosbox_games

2) Find the file in "Graphic mode setup" located in ...\GOG.com\Castles and Castles 2 - Siege and Conquest. Choose OpenGL

3) Go to the Castles directory and open a file that ends with .conf. and change to output=opengl. Save and and start.
