I play racing games with a Logitech MOMO wheel.
Back in the day, I used to play Carmageddon with a wheel controller,, but unfortunately can't get my MOMO to work with Carmageddon, as it's a USB controller.
I've played around with the free version of Xpadder, and that only let's me turn the pedals and wheel into a glorified D-Pad, which renders the game unplayable, because there's no control in the steering wheel from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock, it's just 'dead space' as the wheel only acts as Numberpad 4 when turned to 9 o'clock, and as Numberpad 6 when turned all the way to 3 o'clock, the same with the Gas and Brake, they're only key presses when pushed down all the way.
There's no way I can play the game using the Keyboard, and DEFINITELY no way to play the game with a Console Controller, (I find steering a car onscreen with my thumb completely difficult and ridiculous)
So, now I wish I didn't buy this game, as it's as useful to me as the original CDs are, that are sitting in my closet. :/
