I started the game, using the Win95 patch. When it started the gameplay screen didn't fill the entire screen, it had a black border around it, I tried hitting the + key (Next to backspace) and it didn't work, but when I hit the '-' key it made it smaller. Now I'm stuck with this ultra tiny window!! (See attached pic).

When I hit C and go to cockpit view, it fills the screen, so I haven't touched any of the keys.

Summary: HOW DO I ZOOM BACK IN!?!?

The + should work, it did for me but people have been having trouble with it.

Try booting up in hardware mode or windows 95 patch(you should be using this anyway for better graphics and stuff),, some people have reported this turns it into full border mode again.

I am running the Win95 patch. I tried booting it in Hardware mode, and the game fills the screen in that, so I didn't even test the buttons. I want to run it in the Win95 patch mode so I can run it in a window. But I can't zoom in, the + key does nothing!

Annoying discovery. I uninstalled, and deleted the directory, and reinstalled. When it started, it still had the name I changed it to, and the screen was still shrunk down! So it's saving a config file somewhere else on the computer, but I can't seem to find it! I tried searching my computer, and searching the registry, but I can't find anything that appears to be related.

:(
Update: Uninstalled it and re installed it into a different, non default directory, and the zoom level returned to it's default, but still has about 1-2" of black border around it, and the + Key still won't let me make it larger to fill the screen.

Try the two buttons next to backspace. Works for me.
edit: oops, didn't read the entire post. You already tried that I see.
edit: try the ")" and "-" button if you have an azerty keyboard.

I think from what people have said is that windowed in 95 can give some problems and crashing, ive not tried it myself though.
I tried fiddling with the option.txt file but it does nothing... I think that the win95 patch doesn'T get it's specs from there, but I can'T find how the heck to make the screen bigger... Although you can play fullscreen by pressing c to see from the cockpit... so I'm having the same problem as you. Somebody help us pretty please?
It might have something to do with the keyboard layout.
It's possible that adding the US keyboard layout can solve it.

Here is a link with instructions to do so.

Seems like Kharne found the answer in another post!

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/carmageddon/screen_size_problem

"Ok, with a little poking around I managed to fix it. Here's what I did:

1. Open the OPTION.TXT file in notepad, it should be found under CARMA/DATA wherever you installed the game.
2. Find the line that says 'ScreenSize #' where # is a number.
3. change that number to 0 and save the file.
4. Run carmageddon, using either the normal or windows shortcut, but make sure to run the file as an admin.

That seems to work around the issue, I've got Carmageddon Running full screen.

I also haven't tested, but I'm betting the same steps should work for the splat pack, just need to edit the OPTIONS.TXT under CARSPLAT/DATA "

I changed that, ran file as admin and BOOM! :D
This worked to fix the zoom problem, still can't use the + key, so if you zoom back out ( - key ), you'll have to go reset this in the file.

But now I can see what I'm doing!
