The game is looking for the "Galaxy Communications" service to be running and/or start-able in the background.
( Symptom = C++ RT Error ... Abnormal Termination Requested by Application )

Go to the game install directory and ( Delete / Move / Rename ) the file "Galaxy.dll".

The Non-Galaxy download versions of the game should play without GOG Galaxy installed and/or running in the background.

Linux version .... no info.
