You may have to be patient and grind the boss down over some minutes, depending on how safely you play, maybe over 10 minutes or more. However, rest assured that you can beat the boss without the skills of action game players. I will say this. If you are not a good action game player, and you try to kill the boss in melee, chances are good you will die before you beat him. Try to save enough resources to make at least 200 crossbow bolts and maybe a couple dozen potions. That should be more than enough of a safety net on Buffalo difficulty that I just finished.
