blood 2 is a lithtech engine based game.

and all the lithtech engine based games have issues in windows 8. due to that fact that microsoft changed code in directdraw code and among other things.

so even if you tell the game to run in hardware mode. its actually not even using hardware mode. its using some kind of stupid software emulation that games dont like. and compatibility modes dont fix it.

thankyou microsoft for fudging up 13 year old code.

microsoft tech wont even listen, they say something wrong with your computer.

so this problem isnt going to be fixed anytime soon.

this game runs solid 60fps in windows 7

in windows 8 it run 11fps

I like having new stuff, but this really puts a wet hanky over the whole thing,..

A lot of people using windows 8 are expressing concern on a number of issues. I'm utterly unfamiliar with most recent OSs released in the past several years so you have my sympathies is all I can say. Have you tried the 8.1 patch? Also, Blood2 and other early lithech games are working on wine reasonably well believe it or not. So a decent wrapper should be just around the corner for what that's worth.
