Yeah, the game is having lots of issues. Sometime it works like a charm even on the most modern systems, sometimes it will refuse to work properly on systems that according to the specs should be more likely to handle it properly.

Anyway: What screen resolution are you using? I noticed that the game will have serious issues on some while running fine on others. Try playing on 1024x768 or 800x600, at least to see whether the stability improves/gets worse. On one system I tried many different resolutions and 1024x768 turned out to be the highest one which is still perfectly stable.
