I'm asking this, because the computer that I'm on most of the time is just a little 2.4ghz P4 with a gig of RAM and a Geforce 4 MX onboard with 64MB of RAM. And I remember Duke Nukem 3D under DOSBox running like garbage. A source port fixed that real quick. But Blood doesn't have a source port. heh
I know I could adjust frameskipping to get it running a little better ... but that's the problem. Frame skipping.
I've run Blood using DOSBox .70 on a P4 2.6 GHz and it was playable. I wouldn't try running it on a resolution any higher than 640x480 tho.
Download the shareware and DOSBox and try it out.

Why is this game demanding at all? Is there something I am missing? On max settings it runs a bit laggy, and this is on a modern gaming comp.
Because emulation is demanding, and you are using DosBox to play it.

You know there is a DOSBox .73 out right?

Yes, but at the *time* I was testing it I used .70. I've not used the P4 to play Blood for a while now.

Alright. :)
Dosbox 72 and 73 are MUCH better then the previous DOsbox versions for running Build Engine games.
OF course, the stronger CPU you have the better performance you will get since Dosbox runs almost exclusively off the CPU.
It would probably be better to install dos on a partition in the hard drive of older computers to play blood natively. :D

Blood has a lot of going on in the code (physics for example), so perfecting its emulation can be an impossible task.

That's fine, it just seems odd as I have never had an old game run poorly before, despite playing old games often. I guess most DOS games I emulate are not as hardware intensive.
hey a semi offtopic question but i has been mentioned in this topic.
Does the gog version of blood come with the most recent version of dosbox or do i have to download it myself and switch some stuff around?

Yeah, it doesn't happen with many games, but Blood happens to be an exception, both with quality and the care it demands.
