Anyone know if this GOG release includes the cutscenes and CD-audio tracks off the original disc? Not that the cutscenes were any great shakes, but I remember the CD soundtrack being pretty good and appropriately creepy - a good complement to the excellent MIDI tracks. And before anyone asks, yes, I am aware that the GOG release comes with a 'soundtrack,' though I'm not sure that it's something that can be used in-game.
Hi proffrink1986,
Can't play right now to test, but when you install, there are CD audio tracks included in OGG format. So I'm pretty sure you get to listen to the amazing CD soundtrack in-game. That's one of reason I love GOG, they do all the hard stuff for us, so we just get to enjoy the original experience.
Also the game dir is so huge there just MUST be cut-scenes included - there's a very large "game.gog" file that I believe contains them.

I had a chance to play briefly this morning-the intro cutscene was there and the music is from the cd soundtrack. Would anyone know how to enable the general midi music?
You need to configure the midi in the Blood's setup - load up DOSbox by clicking on the dosbox.exe file, then you need to mount where the game is located.. example: at the command promit within dosbox type "mount c c:\blood" (or whatever you specified to install Blood into).. then type " CD \Blood " after that type "setup" and it will bring you into the setup menu.
Press enter on "Sound Setup" > "Choose Music Card" > select Sound Blaster > Test Music Card (to make sure you hear music) > then press escape > Save and launch Blood
In the options menu make sure "CD Audio" is all the way down and it should generate the sweet sounds of the midi music. :)
Outstanding! I'll give it a whirl when I get home. Thank you.

Actually, you don't need to do all that mounting with DOSBox.
In the Start menu, GoG has a shortcut under Blood for Setup that takes you right to that Setup screen, without messing with DOSBox :)

The game.gog and game.inst files are just BIN / CUE raw CD image files with the extensions renamed (*.gog=*.bin and *.inst=*.cue). If you're curious about it's contents you can mount it with daemon tools or another virtual drive. I can confirm the cutscenes are on this image - DosBox is configured to mount it.
I can confirm the original redbook audio (CD-DA) is included. The tracks encoded in OGG format at approx. 100kbps 44.100kHz.
Edit: For those who prefer higher quality lossy formats I can confirm that 160 to 192kbps encodes worked fine when replaced in GOG's version - I re-ripped the tracks from physical media and tested.

Doh! How could I have not figure that. And there I was thinking it was a GOG proprietary format. Thanks for info HampsterStyle. Appreciate it. Otherwise, I don't understand why they made it in this complicated way - the smacker video files can be played straight from HDD with simple changes in blood ini file no need for them to be on a "CD". I'm sure, if GOG has done it this way, there's probably a good reason for that, but what might it be?

Ok,the menu options didn't work for me.I found a simple workaround, though.I just removed the cd tracks out of the game dir and fired up the game. That worked just fine. My question-is there a way to get the game to use a external software midi module? I have a Edirol Virtual Sound Canvas program that does my general midi music for my other source ports. It would be nice if I could get it to work with this.
I cannot get the CD music to go away. I've tried turning it off in the options but to no avail. What files do I need to delete to get rid of the music?
Nevermind. I figured it out.

there's some problems like the beginning cutscene sometimes doesnt have audiio and what not but as someone whos had problems with his cd roms of this and Shadow Warrior (which im praying now that we have blood we get that too but i doubt it since 3d realms is gone) that GOG went above and beyond with this. overall im really impressed with how it runs

Hmm, sucks about the quality. You would think in this day and age of terabyte hard drives and high-speed DSL that encoding above 160kbps wouldn't be an issue. Not that it would make that huge of a difference, but it's disappointing all the same.
Well, I don't need a lossless music in a game, but 100kbps? Main god, why?
Are GOG guys joking?
Is it the soundtrack or the actual in-game audio that is encoded for 100 kbps? I haven't bought it yet, but I'm curious if I need to find another place for the music.
