Ok, so I purchased Blood 2 a few days ago, and my god. This game crashes to windows more than any game I have ever seen. It crashes more than Painkiller Resurrection by a hefty margin, and that is saying something truly substantial. Is there anything I can do to remedy this issue, or is this just a lost cause?

What are your system specs? Is blood2 installed in program files? What compatibility modes do you have selected?

The same is on my computer. Core i5 2500K + AMD 7970 + Windows 7 64 Bit.
You guys need to look around these forums and check out the countless solved threads that deal with these exact issues. I'm sure you'll find your answer if you look a little. I know I've answered this question at least once in another thread.

We need to find a way to get the most common problem threads stickied.

@ tisjanith/joblack:

Compatibility set to win 98 on client, mfc, exe. and server files, no visual themes or advanced text services, install folder is anywhere but program files-

right?

There is no MFC.exe. Anyway I like the games from gog.com but GOG has the claim to have converted the old games to new Windows operating systems. I have bought several games where only half of them work the way intended.

The simple way to state what I'm getting at is to say anything that has a compatibility setting in the game folder should be set to win98. This might not provide you with much relief, but know that there are a number of open source programs out there that aim to run directX output through an opengl wrapper, such as wineX and of course DXGL.

Sorry for the bolding, XML tags don't want to play nice today.
