Played it about an hour ago, took a break, came back, update 1.8.8 installed and now I get an error after the opening cinematic, before the main menu.

createinputlayout - the parameter is incorrect

File: E:\work\code\Blood_EX\kex3_anuket\kexengine\source\rhi\d3d11\rhidrawd3d11.cpp
Line: 310

I'm guessing there is a bad line of code as I do not have an E:\work. The game is installed on another drive.
Same problem here, also E:\work\... while the game ist installed on D:\
Same here

Also the starting screen still say 1.8.4

Same here :'( has anyone found a fix for this?
Same here. The game's rendering is also messed up. I thought it might have been an API quirk since I had mine set to use Vulkan, but trying to switch it back to D3D11 gives this error.
Same. Unplayable
Nightdive just released 1.8.8-1 for GOG. Try reloading now.

Same here. The graphics are completely messed up running OpenGL which worked fine for me in the previous version. Switching to another renderer crashes the game with that E: error. Plus the game keeps trying to update again every now and then via Galaxy for some reason even though it's already updated.
(nevermind, they posted an update to workaround it anyway)

Thanks to 1.8.8.1 I can start the game again. When I try to load my latest savefile the game tells me "Save's expected game file doesn't match currently loaded" though. :(

Yep, same. Started a new game, saved it, that save loads okay, old saves don't.
Fixed with 1.8.8.1, but i'm still having the problem with Galaxy trying to update the game when it's already updated.

And it just updated to 1.8.8.2 for some reason.

Yup, my game works, but now it doesn't read old saves *facepalm*
I had the same problem and reinstalling the game fixed it
