I have been playing Blade flawleesly these days, but yesterday, I decided to reinstall Windows. The game did not start and, after a little research, I have discovered that it is related to the codecs somehow. When I uninstalled the codecs, it works. If I make the starting video unplayable, it works (even with codecs installed). So, although I have solved the problem and can play the game flawlessly again, I would like to know if someone knows why does this happen.
(I use Klite Mega codec pack).

K-Lite is terrible, try CCCP.
But no I don't really know the answer to your question, though often it is not so much the codec but the settings they use, so if you know what settings to use you could probably run BoD with K-Lite.
Codec packs love to overwrite everything when installing so that can be a problem.
Also the rendering settings in BoD may cause the problem, best is to use rOpenGL and stay away from Direct3D.

Note for really old games you might need Indeo codec, Call to Power 2 for instance.

Well, the error still launchs, but many thanks for the info anyway. Those codecs are pretty cool! (They even detected errors and fixed them).
