Thank you for this. I'm having audio issues and I will try this method after uninstalling to see whether it fixes the issues.

Right now, I just have it downloaded and just installed with Wine.

I did a quick check, we don’t have a work-around for audio issues yet.
I’m adding this to my TODO list, there will be an update to this thread once I’ve found something reliable.

Well, okay. Thank you so much for looking into it. When the cutscene plays, there is no audio in some of them.

I tried this fix: https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/574490-Audio-Video-Sync-issues-*FIX*-Forums

However, it seemed to fix it, when I got to some new cutscenes in the story, there was no audio.

I think I’m unto something, at least there is no audio looping anymore.
I still feel like there is a slight audio delay during some cutscenes, but I need to check if it is specific to the French version I used for my tests.

Anyway, enough for today, I’ve seen the first cutscenes far too many times for a single evening ;)

That's fast. Well, good luck. I'll have to try and see whether I could find some different fixes later on.
Hello,
I've been trying to get this script to work for several days. I don't know that much about Linux. I put the three files in the same directory and ran

sh ./play-beyond-good-and-evil.sh

It created two files, and told me to run this:

sudo apt install "/home/user/.local/share/Beyond Good and Evil/beyond-good-and-evil-data_1.0-gog2.1.0.9+20180224.1_all.deb" "/home/user/.local/share/Beyond Good and Evil/beyond-good-and-evil_1.0-gog2.1.0.9+20180224.1_i386.deb

I ran that command and was told that the user _apt did not have download privileges.

I searched around and found this:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/aptitude/+bug/1543280/comments/27

I created the user _apt and added it to the appropriate directory.

Now when I run the install command I get this:

Note, selecting 'beyond-good-and-evil-data' instead of '/home/user/.local/share/Beyond Good and Evil/beyond-good-and-evil-data_1.0-gog2.1.0.9+20180224.1_all.deb'
Note, selecting 'beyond-good-and-evil:i386' instead of '/home/user/.local/share/Beyond Good and Evil/beyond-good-and-evil_1.0-gog2.1.0.9+20180224.1_i386.deb'
beyond-good-and-evil:i386 is already the newest version (1.0-gog2.1.0.9+20180224.1).
beyond-good-and-evil-data is already the newest version (1.0-gog2.1.0.9+20180224.1).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Is my game installed somewhere? How do I launch it?

This is a harmless warning, you can disregard it.

beyond-good-and-evil-data is already the newest version (1.0-gog2.1.0.9+20180224.1).
This means the game is already successfully installed.

You should find a new entry "Beyond Good and Evil" in your applications menu, that launches the game.
Or you can run it from a terminal, using the following command:
beyond-good-and-evil
Thank you.
My cutscenes play much too quickly. I've read from several places that this can be fixed by enabling vsync for Beyond Good and Evil. I asked around the nvidia forums, but haven't had any responses. Does anyone know how to enable vsync for Beyond Good and Evil on Linux?

My only gaming computer with a nVIDIA GPU is using the "nouveau" Mesa driver, so I won’t be of much help here.
But I have some free time on my hands, so I should be able to work again on the couple remaining issues we have with this game.
We wrote some documentation about a possible work-around for audio issues with Beyond Good & Evil, feedback would be much appreciated: Beyond Good and Evil - Audio-related issues

From our tests, the proposed workaround might have an effect on all setups:
• It did not fix audio/video desync on an Arch Linux using a nVIDIA GPU (nvidia non-free driver).
• It fixed missing audio clips and loss of audio/video synchronisation in some cutscenes on a Debian Bullsey/Sid using a AMD GPU (amdgpu free driver).

Please share your experience with this workaround, so we can try to improve its reliability.
