You will still need the main game, the Season Pass just contains the three upcoming expansions.

On STEAM it is clear, on GOG not.

BATTLETECH - Mercenary Collection is the base game with Season Pass.
But I haven't seen "Notice: you need base Battletech to play" also. Maybe because it's preorder?

This thing you mention is just one of the things that are wrong with the handling of these DLC.

Another two:

1. A product in preorder accepting "reviews".

2. The link in the general forum blue thread, still broken several days afterwards.
