I wonder if there is any way to change the sound effects in the first Battle Isle? The music is okay, but the sound effects are crap. Dear god this sounds so awful!

I remember the game having pretty "good" sound effects in the Amiga Version. Explosions sounded like explosions. Fired rockets from helicopters and hovercrafts had a nice effect but in this version it just goes "blip blop".

Now does anybody know if that is a config issue or did the DOS version have this crappy effects in general?

Thanks in advance!

Indeed, the DOS version of Battle Isle just does sound like that. The problem is that unlike the Amiga version it does not use any samples, all sounds are generated via FM Synthesis through AdLib (it's common for most DOS games of that era).
