hey everyone -

I'm running Baldur's Gate 1, which works just fine on its own. I installed the BG1 fix pack, the text update, and the unfinished business pack just for the fun of it. Apparently, everything was installed, backed up, etc.

I then installed the widescreen mod (this is without Tutu, BGT, or anything like that). The opening video and character creation process takes place in a small window in the upper left portion of my screen, which is apparently normal. At least from what I've read on this forum.

Once I get past character creation, I get a decent looking fullscreen image at the exact resolution I wanted, but with some problems. I've attached images to show what those problems are. These are fullscreen captures, so as you can see, the bottom portion of the screen where dialog takes place is only partially filled, and the character screen is also only partially filled. Are there any known solutions for this?

I installed the mod at 1280x720 - but did not install for multiple resolutions (wasn't sure what that entailed). I'm also NOT running any GUI mods.

Any help is appreciated!
here is the second photo, which did not attach to the first post for some reason

You say you didn't install any GUI mod? That may actually be your problem, you need this mod (just click on the big bold lettering link near the bottom of the first post), it should fix your problem, but you have to use either 1024x600, 1024x768, 1280x768 or 1280x800 resolutions or the mod will fail. Hope that helps.

Edit: For some reason BG1 needs this mod when using the widescreen mod, the other Infinity Engine don't require this specific GUI mod, though Planescape Torment widescreen requires its own GUI mod.

you, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. I re-installed the widescreen mod at 1280x768, which works just fine on my monitor, and then installed the GUI mod. The results are in the picture I've posted. I was so pre-occupied with keeping the mods to a minimum that I skipped an essential one.

thanks very much!

You're welcome! I'm just glad I know enough to finally help PC gamers and give back to the community that has helped me. I was primarily a console gamer for years, so when I came to GOG alot of this was new to me. :D
