I remember when I bought BG:EE a while ago I was able to somehow claim also the "Baldur's Gate: Original Saga" which was added to my library, so now I have both original and EE.
I just bought BGII:EE - is it also possible here to somehow add the original BG:II to the library?

Okay found it. I have to go to Library, then "View Downloads" for BGII:EE and then in "more" dropdown select "Serial Keys" and then follow the link (described as BGII:EE for some reason) that allows me to claim my copy of original "Baldur's Gate 2 Complete". Wasn't obvious but I'm glad I found it.

I was browsing my library, the first game I purchased from GoG was BG I - The Original Saga. Then I bought BG I: EE.
Curious as to if BG II Original is still available, I stumbled upon your post.
