Hey in this thread https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/how_to_move_the_plot_forward people told me that i need to be at least level 5 to enter Cloakwood. My party consists of me, Khalid, Jaheira, Garrick, Imoen, and Ajantis. Imoen and Garrick are level 5, all others are 4. My main character lacks 5600 XP to get to 5. Do i really need to go through this much chore to reach 5 or do you think i am gonna manage whatever awaits me in Cloakwood (this is my first run of the game).

Is 5600 XP much or is it easy to achieve? cause to me it seems like a lot

Also quick question: When it says ' your party has gained x experience' that means that every character received x experience divided by the number of characters in party? It seems to be working that way

Character experience points (XP) are divided among the number of party members. If you have a full party and get 10,000 XP, that would be 10,000 divided by 6.

Your current party should be fine for Cloakwood. There are plenty of web traps, so keep an eye out for that. When you get to the mines, you'll need to get protection from electricity scrolls (sold in High Hedge), and potions of insulation (also sold at High Hedge).
There's no minimum level or item requirement for entering Cloakwood and you don't need any special equipment either, just enter the area and try it out, you can leave if you get into trouble.
