So I received the quest to where Mazzy's sister is poisoned and I have to track down a merchant named Wallace.

But I ran into an awkward issue where he is hostile at me from an earlier failed theft, (I didn't quickload since I was trying to lower my reputation a bit).

Is there anyway he'll talk to me now? Or will he be hostile forever?

It's Mazzy that actually finds & talks to Wallace, so you might be able to leave your player character out of the picture.

You can try if charming and force-talking works.

olnorton: It's Mazzy that actually finds & talks to Wallace, so you might be able to leave your player character out of the picture.
She gets one word in and then he runs off. :P

In any case I just dropped her for Keldorn and set sail for Spellhold, I feel kind of bad but I don't need any defection at that point in the game.
