Hello everyone. Just started playing BG1 and it took me a while to notice, but I seem to be having a bit of a problem with the sound. It appears that in the majority of instances, combat sounds don't play. The first time I actually heard sound during combat was during the illusionist battle in Candlekeep (possibly because there were so many characters). It also seems like certain speech samples won't play. When leaving Candlekeep with Gorion, there was a small in-game cutscene in which he lead me to the gate, proceeded to stare at me in silence for about 15 seconds, and then healed me.

My PC runs Windows XP 32bit, and my installation of BG is clean (Complete Saga GOG version, no additional patches or mods). Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Check a few things.

-Is your sound card compatible with the system requirements?
-Is everything plugged in correctly? Like no hardware issues.
-Are your in-game volumes set wherein you can hear the sounds you seek? Ie- Load up the game, click the old school floppy disk icon, then click the Sounds tab, and check the volume settings of the various sounds. If they're at the very left, it means you won't be able to hear them. So make them either be a few paces from the very left, or more, depending on how loud you want the sounds to be.

Hope this helps. The only issue I've ever had w/the BG series regarding sound is that I can't hear echoes in sewers b/c my soundcard isn't compatible, but everything else regarding sound is absolutely fine for me.
