1. I downloaded BG3 fully.
2. I clicked on play from the GOG Galaxy app.
3. I click on DX11 then play.
4. Then the crash happens. (And yes my video drivers are up to date)
I am so lost at this point any help would be great.

Thank You :)

What are your system specifications?

Especially: CPU, RAM, GPU.
do you have any apple software installed?
is your cellphone connected to your pc when it happens?

i had crashs too. and after diggin deeper i found it that some apple software was causing the crashs. after deinstalling them the game doesnt crash anymore.

... that GPU might, maybe, be your problem.

The published minimum specifications used to list a GeForce 780; you've only got an 860. I know, I know, 860 > 780 .... but the way NVidia numbers their drives? The last two digits are actualy more significant than the rest.

_80 is their "Enthusiast" class, with all of that generation's bells and whistles.
_60 is their "Mainstream" class, with most []but not quite all[/i] of the bells and whistles.

So even though your GPU is one generation newer (an 8xx card, instead of a 7xx card), it might just be that the difference between an x80 and an x60 is what's causing your problem.

waltc: Game runs fine here.
.... the game is in a Beta state, maybe even a late Alpha state. It absolutely is not going to run fine-and-dandy for everyone.

It runs smoothly on my computer .... but, I literally just bought it (today marks 1 month since it was delivered), and it's a beast:

Motherboard: MSI Z490M Gaming Edge WiFi (MicroATX)
CPU: Intel i7-10700K, 8 cores @ 3.8GHz
RAM: 32GB of Crucial DDR4-2666
GPU: PNY-built NVidia RTX 2070 Super
Drives:
... 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SATA3 2.5" SSD (avg R/W 550 MB/s)
... 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus PCI-E M.2 SSD (avg R/W 3,500 MB/s) <-- games live here. :)
... 4TB WD Red SATA 3 HDD (avg R/W 170 MB/s)

Like I said, it's a beast. It, and the new monitor, cost me bang on $4,000US. So, as smoothly as I can run it ... I don't expect others' experiences to be remotely similar. Especially not with older machines, closer to the bottom end of the game's minimum specifications.

In the Galaxy client, go to that game.

Up top, there's a button just to the right of the one marked [PLAY], with two little circles-on-lines. CLICK THIS.

That opened a little menu. Choose Manage Installation - it's the third option from the top.

That opened a new little menu. Choose Verify & Repair - it's the last option at the very bottom.

Sit back and wait for Galaxy to do it's thing.
Hi,

I had the same problem and the fix that works fine on my computer is to hold Shift key while clicking on Play, until the Larian logo appears on your screen.

Seems odd but that works.

What is this new devilry?
For me it's not new since I have to make this trick since the first day I play. Even with the last patch to 4.1.84.2021.

It is not necessary for everyone, but in some cases it can be effective.

This note is of little interest to anyone but _Pax_: I used your name in vain in this thread: https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/pain/page1

Thanks for your hard work.

that is a network error and I recommend you try bypassing the launcher [see image]

assuming Windows 10 = have your launcher open but don't try to start the game from it... instead open your explorer to the folder you installed the game to and open the DX11 app dirrectly
