FYI: Patch 5 has just landed with a fix for a performance issue which gets worse as the adventure progresses.
Heads Up. Larian posted info, this patch is HUGE! Bigger then the last patch.

The size of Patch 5 is 30 GiGs. (Thirty Gigs) and requires 130 Gigs of free space.

They recommend re-downloading and re-installing the full game. (edit: if you DON"T meet the install requirements)

Based on what happened last time with the GoG verison of Patch 4. Patch 5 might even be worst for this platform.
Take caution and maybe wait for some feedback before downloading the patch, especially for people who have limited/capped internet plans/speeds.

Thanks

Indeed Galaxy is currently downloading '102.33GB'. I am really looking forward to giving it ago in the few hours!
Having to download the whole game every time they release a new patch is is a bit annoying...

Somehow this is only a problem on GOG platform, my mates on Steam only get the patch file and are already done, and I'm here downloading the full game .... again ..... ffs rubbish platform. Next time I will go to steam and buy two copies on steam, for me and my GF, instead of dealing with this bullshit.

Re-downloading the full game sucks.

All the patches/hotfixes up until Patch 4 were all ok and size wise manageable, download wise.
Patch 4 was the only time I had to re-install the game.

Patch 4 is where the GoG version went wtf.

The steam version of Patch 4 was 15 gigs. Patch 5 is 30 gigs (I assume)
The GoG verison of Patch 4 was 54 gigs. Based on nullzero's post, Patch 5 is 102.33 gigs. (guess)

Whatever compression is being used, the GoG version is pretty bad.

Once the offline installer files are posted (probably weekend or next week) Will report back with the install requirements and any issues.

I bought the game on GoG because Larian gets more of my money than with steam.

But havin to load these huge files over and over again, having to wait double and triple the time as with the steam version is just plain ridiculous.

With every new patch i am more intrigued to buy a second copy of the game on Steam, not having to deal with this crap anymore. Maybe that was their plan all along.

That is correct, its still downloading currently. Personally because I have unlimited (but not particularly fast) internet I do not mind. Either:
1. My install does not match delta files fully (although I have not installed any mods) leading to a full download as a fall back.
2. The patch is that big.

Really don't think that patch is that big.
When I switched from offline install to Galaxy (due to offline Patch 4 wanting 944GB of free disk space to install) it took me around 5 scans of the game, 3 search for updates and one enabling and disabling of auto-updates until Galaxy stopped trying to re-download the full game and understood that it only had to download the patches.

So no, that's Galaxy not understanding that the game is already installed. It is capable of downloading ONLY the patches - but to get it to do that is as rolling a nat 20

EDIT: Interestingly a search for updates for the game only gives a "no updates available" for now, and the update you can choose under "configuration" (the on being 102BG) says its 17 hours old. (for comparision: patch 5 released 3 hours ago on steam)
Are we sure Galaxy has the correct Patch 5?

EDIT 2: After a scan it's now downloading a 175MB update. I really hope I did not just shot my chance to install the offline patch 5 later on...

Due to the size of this game, it would make sense to deploy it to the servers of various platforms before officially announcing its availability.
Do you need gog galaxy to install the patch?
When Patch 4 came out. When I checked Galaxy on "release day", it said it was 5 days old. So, yes, the platforms get the files early so they can integrate the files to their specific systems.

You can confirm the games/patch version number on Galaxy to Steam/Larian and they do match, 4.1.1.4061076. So this should be Patch 5 (on Galaxy).

I avoid using Galaxy because patching/downloading can be 50/50. I've had good experience with it & also mind-numbing frustration.

As far as I can tell. Patch 5 is not yet showing as a stand alone option. My guess is that it will be available soon (24 hours or so).

No. You can wait for the offline installer to manually patch the game.

However, if you need to play the game NOW with friends who are on a different platform (Steam, console etc).
Your only option is to patch it with GoG Galaxy.
I've been downloading Patch 5 for most of the day today, 11/30--Galaxy, of course, and I'm 85% through, @ 10-12gb/sec downloading speed. It's not "just an update"...it's a major rewrite affecting every act in the game. You should check out the Larian read.me about the significant changes in the game. Larian does the patches for Galaxy, just as Larian does the patches via Steam. Larian can patch its game directly on Gog through Galaxy, just like it does with Steam. The only patches that GOG itself does are the manual backup installer files, which Larian does not do. Gog takes the patch that Larian enters for Galaxy and converts it to Gog's manual file format, which Steam does not offer. As far as "versions" go, the only difference I've seen between Gog and Steam is that for older games, particularly, the Gog games are made compatible with the latest OSes (Gog put some effort into it), which does not seem to be the case for Steam--unless they've changed things since I last checked.

Steam these days is offering some kind of back up for some Steam games (properties/installed files), but I don't know what that consists of, as whether it's an executable installer like GOG's manual backups, or it's something else. I've never tried it, myself.
