Considering it's made by Larian, it might be too much to expect it to be closer to BG2 than to OS2. But I'm very tired of seeing fire everywhere.

How is this game?
SPOILER ALERT!!!

Not sure what you are referring to. SPOILER ALERT!!!

Tutorial is set in one of the realms of hell: Avernus. And it includes attacks by firebreathing red dragons. So there's that.

Then a giant flying ship surviving(?) this attack manages to crash into the Sword Coast area strewing burning wreckage about. But exploring that wreckage (for experience and profit) takes at most, half an hour. And in any case is purely voluntary - skip it if you want.

That's all I can think of. So very little, if any, of this game could be described as a "sea of flames". And what fire there is, seems to me, at least, thematically valid.
all os games have an area where you can blow lots of shit up by sending a fire into a jug of oil ... sometimes its not oil and sometimes the type of attack you have to is different but the 'blow shit up' effect is always there and yes this game has places like that

dropping pots of oil around a goblin base to kill everyone with a sigle attack was very much in the tutorial and the feedback was so negative that Larian has dialed this back a lot\ removing pots from the map when you rest so you can't lay landmines everywhere before a boss fight

this type of senario is a fav of the boss and he is the boss of Larian so its in every Larian game but its not as common as it is in OS 1 or 2
The environmental interactions are similar and the game has plenty of oil barrels (as well as a grease spell). The difference is that the damage is much lower. Also, the spell system in dos2 was build around that, whereas in BG3 it's D&D spellcasting. So you can still use it, it just isn't as effective (with the exception of a special, quest related explosive). Imo there are more interesting uses for spells to bother with barrels.
Thanks guys. Seems they keep the amount of environmental hazards reasonable this time. I'm interested. ^_^
