First of all Avernum 3/Exile 3 was the game which expanded out of the underground. I see multiple reviews stating that the first three games were fully underground. Secondly, the Avernums are different than Geneforge. They are not animated for starters, instead using the classic tile-based system as opposed to Geneforge's fully animated system.

All sorts of other wrong 'facts' in these reviews.

They seem to be written by nostalgic people with great love for the series.
I don't see a reason to get worked up about people remembering a few details incorrectly.

Your review is also incorrect btw, you can dual wield in avernum 6…

He is also wrong about Avernum 3 being the first one to allow you to play as other races you could play other races in Avernum 2..
