Hi everyone,

I just bought and downloaded the Atlantis series and tried out The Lost Tales. It loaded okay after running the compatibility troubleshooter which recommended I run the game in Windows XP.

It worked for about two minutes, in which time I was able to speak to the first guard and turn right. Then, I tried to open the menu and it froze, glitching the soundtrack and making the mouse immovable.

Another problem I encountered was really slow-moving cinematics and characters (as opposed to the violent shimmying my CD copy had), and the mouse had way too much momentum and was heavy to move around.

Is there any way to speed up the cinematics (by the time the introductory speech was over, the movie clip was only about half over)? Further, what specs does everyone run their game in? Resolution, color-bit, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am currently running a Windows 10 machine.
Specs is really the wrong word here. If your computer can run Windows 10 it should be wildly beyond whatever's required. :P

This game is from the era where Wine often yields much better results than real Windows.

Anyway, my findings with quickly trying the game on Windows 10:

* Launching it from GOG Galaxy doesn't work.
* Running the game executable directly results in weird and glitchy graphics. It might be slightly better (i.e., faster) in reduced color mode (16-bit) but I'm not sure. It's glitchy either way.

As an aside, apparently you can run Wine on Windows now.

tl;dr Get yourself a real Linux or a Linux VM and run the game that way. Try running Wine on Windows if you're feeling adventurous. :P

Edit: I can confirm that it seems to work perfectly fine (no weird glitchy slow video) in Wine without having to do anything special. People talking do look a little odd but it's my understanding that this is actually a problem with the final patch (which is integrated on GOG).
