Hello,

I already have Atlantis: The Lost Tales, the 4 CD edition that came out in 1997. However, it won't work correctly in any version of Windows after 98.
My question is: Does the edition on GOG.com contain fixes for the problems the game originally has?

I'm going to describe the problems exactly, so that you can tell me if they've been resolved. Thank you in advance.

If I try to run the game normally, it crashes the first time I try to walk somewhere that wouldn't have a walking cutscene playing (such as after climbing the stairs on the way to the companions' quarters).

I was able to find a patch for the game somewhere, that fixes the above problem but introduces two more:
a)People's faces are drawn on top of anything else, meaning that anyone whose face is normally covered by something (such as Creon's mask) appears uncovered.
b)When the game is supposed to ask for CD 2, it crashes, requiring people to download game saves in order to continue.

Trying to run the DOS version of the game in DOSbox, it works fine except for the cursor: When I try to turn, the viewpoint changes only a little and I have to wait a second and move the mouse again, instead of the continuous movement that is normal. Raising the mouse's sensitivity in DOSbox's configuration makes it easier to deal with but the problem is still there.

Does the GOG.com edition of the game contain some kind of fix that allows the game to run either natively or in DOSbox, without any of the above issues?
So, to fully answer your question - some problems are fixed, some are not while there are others you didn't mention.

I've played Atlantis: The Lost Tales on Windows XP SP3.
Game runs natively. Obviously you don't have to change CDs. It doesn't crash randomly, but it always did when I pressed Alt+Tab. There is a problem with people's faces, but I'm not sure whether it is to the extent you've described; e.g. Creon's mask doesn't look as awful as guards' face guards. And just look at poor Action, heh. (attachment)

In some small cutsces, but not in all of them, the sound is missing. There is background music though. Like, when jumping out from a window there is no sound of Seth hitting ground when lands in the corridor, but there is when he lands in garden. The lion's jaw makes no sound when opening and doors in the nearby hidden passage are also muted. In the 'death screen', (when Seth is lying on the ground), swishes and his dying breaths are also gone. Some puzzles are muted, so you won't hear those clicks and cracks. But, the fox-and-hounds game in the ratcatcher's place is not muted.

Talking about puzzles, I noticed that in some of them the cursor and puzzle itself are laggy, like in the tellurion. In the fox-and-hounds opponent's pawns move very slowly.
Well, I think that's it.

Hello fellow Atlantis-people.
i get same problem as the TS,
"When the game is supposed to ask for CD 2, it crashes, requiring people to download game saves in order to continue."
it kept happening to me when i was playing with virtual discs too.
Is there a fix for this?!

Edit: OK, got it fixed now.
i uninstalled the old game and reinstalled the GOG version. now it works.
the only problem i struggle with now is the second ratcatcher game who is "slow" or something so i cant make it in time. but i will soon get the hang on it :)

Quick question: I know this is a necro thread, but, is it possible to get the GOG.com version running under DOSBox?

No, it only has the Windows executable.
