So TheGamer has an article (a few days old now) about Ubisoft's plans on shutting down the online features of a few legacy titles in May.
Here it is!
I'm thinkin' that this may increase the chances of a few more Ubisoft titles comin' over here to GOG :3 In my eyes, the weaker their games' current forced connection to Uplay gets, the easier it should be to wrap everything up all pretty in a DRM-free "everything's included, play offline or whatever" sorta bundle :p Yes, I realize that AC2 was patched to officially allow offline play a few years back.
Anyway, I'd wager that it would give them a fair chunk more cash for these titles as well--especially if they're already essentially giving up on them. Plenty of people are dedicated to GOG and the FCK DRM mindset, so a decision to send the games over here would be nothing but beneficial for both sides <3 Of course the PC version of AC2 is arguably sub-par, requiring a few tweaks to be an enjoyable experience on modern hardware (I still don't know how to get rid of that nasty stuttering when I'm lookin' at the map :/ ). In any case, since we certainly can't expect them to open up the source code, a GOG release would undoubtedly be a fantastic move :3
As you've probably guessed, there's no real point to this post other than to voice a lil excitement and hopefulness, also probably show Ubisoft that there's definitely interest in case they ever look over here for any reason (low chances, yeah, but you miss all of the shots you don't take :p )
I'm not asking for any specific input from anybody else, but if ya feel anything is worth saying, some conversation is welcome!
