There are some here who have encountered technical issues when using a joystick.

Has anyone made positive, bug-free and smooth experiences using one, and which joystick in particular do you have in use?

First I should say that as of now I don't have gog's version of the game but a cdrom I have for 20 years or so.
Okay, first check the configuration of the game, within the installationfolder of AD there should be several .conf files,
usually gog names them DosboxAD.conf. Now open these with notepad and find the line:

[joystick]
timed=true

Now make that line:

[joystick]
timed=false

Now start the game and calibrate your joystick and see if your problem is solved.

The last time I played this game was a couple of years ago and I think I still had a Logitech Force 3D Pro, which I don't recommend because the FFB is lame and the life of the stick is very short, the normal Extreme 3D Pro is better (I think).
But if you want a really good joystick for the money I recommend the Thrustmaster T.16000M to everyone.
